![]() Well, I know all of you will have your decorations up weeks early. Some thoughts and memories have been sad but many have been filled with fondness and joy. I have recalled, reflected, and renewed these bonds that have spanned many years. T is the season we celebrate family and friends, new and old. Life is so demanding this time of the year that we tend to forget our many blessings throughout the year in regards to our family and friends. Happy Holidays! Vince Pingitore, PGLC Leading Knight MESSAGE FROM THE LECTURING KNIGHT Fellow Members, Holiday greetings! I wish to extend heartfelt best wishes, to everyone, for a fantastic holiday season and a prosperous New Year. In the spirit of the Christmas season, you might even consider paying the delinquent member's dues yourself! Remember, Charity is the greatest of all the virtues. The standing Relief Committee must review all requests for charitable assistance and examine the merits of the request before the Lodge may legally vote on the appropriation (Section 13,010, Opinion 1). ![]() If you know of a member in distress, please bring it to the attention of the Relief Committee, which consists of the Exalted Ruler, the Leading, Loyal and Lecturing Knights, along with the Secretary and the Treasurer. Some of these members may have fallen on hard times due to illness or the economic crunch. Additionally, please check the Lapsation list in the bulletin and at the lodge. Please take a moment and attend this impressive ritual, and, if you can't attend, keep these departed members in your thoughts and prayers. The simplicity of a home cooked meal, shared with friends, just can t be beat. Wednesday Night Dinners are drawing bigger and bigger crowds. This wouldn t be possible without the hours of effort to sell tickets, decorate tables, set up the stage, and staff the kitchen. I had numerous people asking when we would do it again. He charmed the audience like I ve never seen before. Ronnie Dove s show was a sight to behold. We had a room full of fans for the Ronnie Dove show, near record turnouts for Steak Nights, and record turnouts for Wednesday Night Dinners. Thanks to everyone who made November s activities such a success. We are spending less and continue to ask for your cooperation as we try to make ends meet. The Past Exalted Rulers, Officers, and House Committee met for a second time to explore new ideas and check the progress from October s meeting. Thanks to all who contributed to our cost cutting measures. After all, throughout the year, they ve served you with a smile and laughed at your jokes. Speaking of Bartenders, please remember them this holiday season. Contact Claudia at or see the Bartenders for details. They make lovely keepsakes for children, grand-children, pets, friends and family. To benefit Elks National Foundation, Claudia Bryant is decorating Christmas ornaments with the name of your choice. Don t want to take a chance with presents? The House Committee is selling beautiful baskets of oranges and grapefruits, fresh off the trees, and with free shipping. (The gas card will get you twice as far as when we sold the first tickets.) Contact the House Committee and Trustees. Go ahead and take a chance on a $1000 Gas Card or a $1000 Gift Card. There s a raffle to benefit the lodge general fund and another to replace broken tables and chairs. And let s not leave ourselves out, charity begins at home. One opportunity is to drop off a new toy for Boy Scout Troop 483 who will deliver it to the Children s Aid Society. As we take the time to share the abundance God has blessed us with, take time to remember those less fortunate. In memory of our Elk Brothers and Sisters who can t be with us anymore, the Elk Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on December 7. Please do so safely, so we can all enjoy each other s company in the New Year.
